old mountain goat
the True Nature of Reality
and Enlightenment
is Love and Happiness
the True Nature of us all
I'm bound by its free ecstasy
as I don't want to feel any other way
so much beauty and calm
here in the lonely mountains
my mind drunk in the blue azure sky
the calm waters inviting and cool
I can't escape the blessing
of my dear mother
after a long struggle
everything is a lot easier
though suffering and blood is still with me
the sacrifice of suffering for my brethren
I guess it will take a while
for the pain to subside
for the wounds to heal
for me to be healed
I remember waking as a child
to the sounds of the farmyard
the hens clucking, the cockerels crowing
it was a wonderful magic
the diesel smell of the tractor
the healthy smell of the cow manure
a beauty so sublime
in the eyes of a child
then I was a child
and felt like a child
and now I am become a man
and again feel like a child
my heart is in the mountains
the beautiful placid waters
reflect the snow-capped peaks
the abode of the old goat
I like being up here
in the fresh air
away from crumbling society
the colours vivid after a shower of rain
the purple flowers of the dusk brown heather
the yellow green grasses
the slate blue lichened rocks
the icy waters dark and handsome
the billowing clouds in the blustery sky
race across the peaks
the fresh Atlantic air
braces my lungs
shall I sleep in the heather
or in my croft
what a beautiful place
for an old goat to live
an open invitation to my friends
come up here some Autumn
let's picnic in the heather
on bread, cheese and Liebfraumilch*
